In case you don’t know (or forgot) SwiftWatch 2012 is going on NOW! This is when some 40,000 migrating Vaux Swift birds create a huge vortex, until all at once they decide it’s time to go in to roost for the night (at sunset) in a giant (otherwise unused) chimney at Chapman Elementary in NW Portland. Never a bad time. If you’re lucky, you’ll also see a couple local birds of prey swoop in for the weakest links.
Going on through the end of the month.
