Welcome to the “second first annual” Ladd’s 500. Organized by David Barstow Robinson, it’s a bicycle relay race, consisting of five hundred laps around a small grassy circle, in the center of Portland’s Ladd’s Addition neighborhood.
One day David wondered, how many laps around Ladd Circle, would make a hundred miles? He discovered it was an even five hundred. That’s how his idea for the Ladd 500, which is not your typical bicycle race – it also includes tall bikes, skateboards, unicycles, tricycles and more, was born.
“Because let’s do something stupid.”
